IF YOU WANT TO IMMERSE YOURSELF IN HISPANIC CULTURE:
- Get a Spanish-speaking pen-pal (e-pal, FaceBook, etc.) and ask them about their culture!
- Check out livemocha.com to find Hispanic people, and interview them about their culture!
- Help out in a bilingual class or daycare center.
- Visit the “Casa Hispana” at Nazareth College (get the events listing online).
- Attend a church service in Spanish and report back.
- Host a Spanish-speaking exchange student.
- Attend a quinceañera, boda, cumpleaños, or other celebration and report back.
- Watch a movie or a TV show in Spanish and report on cultural observations.
- Watch a TV special that relates to a Spanish-speaking culture and report back.
IF YOU LIKE ART OR ARCHITECTURE:
- Visit a museum that features art from a Hispanic culture, and report on it. (Virtual visits are acceptable.)
- Reproduce a famous painting or other piece of artwork.
- Create your own comic strip using culturally relevant elements.
IF YOU LIKE MUSIC:
- Learn a dance and perform it.
- Learn a dance and teach it to the class.
- Memorize a song and sing it or lip-sync it.
- Attend a concert or performance of music in the target language and discuss it.
- Learn to play a piece of music from a Spanish-speaking country on an instrument.
- Learn to play/perform the national anthem of a Spanish-speaking country.
- Write original music to accompany a Spanish-language poem.
- Listen to a Spanish-language radio show and discuss what you heard.
IF YOU LIKE TO READ OR WRITE:
- Create a children’s book that contains culturally relevant elements.
- Write a poem or piece of prose in the style of a specific well-known Hispanic writer.
- Create a newspaper or magazine of current events in a specific Spanish speaking country.
IF YOU LIKE HISTORY OR GEOGRAPHY:
- Visit a Hispanic museum and report back. (Virtual visit is acceptable.)
- Create a map highlighting Spanish-speaking influence.
- Chart Hispanic immigration in the USA.
- Create a detailed map of a Spanish-speaking country.
IF YOU LIKE DANCE OR SPORTS:
- Learn to dance flamenco, salsa, sardana, son, tango, cumbia, or another style of dance.
- Attend Latin dance lessons, and report back.

IF YOU LIKE FOOD:
- Prepare a dish or meal from a Spanish-speaking country/region for your family or the class. (Make sure your recipe is truly authentic!)
- Prepare a typical breakfast, lunch, or dinner from a Spanish-speaking country/region. (Make sure your recipes are truly authentic!)
- Learn to make tortillas, tamales, pupusas, etc.
- Create and illustrate a recipe book.
- Eat in an AUTHENTIC Hispanic restaurant and report back.
- Get a copy of an AUTHENTIC Hispanic restaurant’s menu and explain the dishes listed.
IF YOU LIKE TV OR MOVIES:
- Watch a movie or a TV show in Spanish and make note of cultural observations.
- Watch a TV special that relates to a Spanish-speaking culture and report on it.

- Create a travel brochure for a target country.
- Take a guided tour of a museum, exhibition, etc. and report back.
- Write to a tourist office for information about a specific Spanish-speaking city/region/country.
- Write to an embassy for information about a Spanish-speaking country or region.
- Research Spanish links to your area/hometown.
IF YOU LIKE SHOPPING:
- Visit a Hispanic business and report on the cultural and product differences.

- Visit the Spanish/Hispanic aisle of a supermarket and report on the products.
- Visit a Hispanic-owned supermarket or grocery store and report on what you see and experience.
IF YOU HAVE NATIVE SPANISH SPEAKERS IN YOUR FAMILY / OR CLOSE FRIENDS:
- Give a presentation about your family’s native country.
- Present family artifacts, clothing, etc.
- Host your Spanish-speaking family member / friend to speak to the class, and introduce discussion topics.
