Knowing beverage words can help you discover new tastes, and can even help you learn more about the people through what they eat and drink!
Here are examples of some of the most common food terms.
l’alcool (masculine) : alcohol
Je ne bois pas beaucoup d’alcool.
I don’t drink much alcohol.
un apéritif : before-dinner drink
Nous allons avoir des apéritifs avant de dîner.
We are going to have before-dinner drinks before dinner.
une bière : beer
Je voudrais une bière froide, s’il vous plaît.
I would like a cold beer, please.
une boisson : beverage / drink
J’ai soif. Je voudrais une boisson.
I’m thirsty (I have thirst). I would like a drink.
un café : (cup of) coffee
Je prends mon café avec du lait et du sucre.
I take my coffee with milk and sugar.
un chocolat (chaud) : hot chocolate
Mes gosses prennent du chocolat chaud pour le petit déjeuner.
My kids drink hot chocolate for breakfast.
un citron pressé / une citronnade : lemonade
