- Verbs are used to communicate actions.
- Common verbs express day-to-day activities.

Here are examples of things to do and the places that you can do them. Think of these as a template to working with different verbs and nouns in the French language. Conjugate the verbs to say who is involved in doing the action and learn the nouns to indicate where the action is!
assister à un concert : to attend a concert
Nous assistons à un concert ce week-end.
We are attending a concert this weekend.
balader dans le quartier : to walk around the neighborhood
J’aime balader dans le quartier après le dîner.
I like to walk around the neighborhood after dinner.
courir sur la piste : to run on the track
Ils courent sur la piste.
They run on the track.
danser dans une boîte (de nuit) : to dance in a nightclub
Tu veux venir avec nous danser dans une boîte de nuit?
Do you (informal) want to come with us to dance in a nightclub?
explorer un nouveau pays : to explore a new country
Chaque année, ils explorent un nouveau pays.
Every year, they explore a new country.
faire du camping avec la famille : to go camping with the family
Il fait du camping avec la famille chaque juillet.
He goes camping with the family every July.
faire de l’exercice au gymnase : to exercise at the gym
J’aime faire de l’exercice au gymnase après le travail.
I like to exercise at the gym after work.
faire une randonée dans le forêt : to hike in the forest
Les campeurs font une randonnée dans le forêt.
The campers are taking a hike in the forest.
faire du shopping au centre commercial : to go shopping at the mall
Nous faisons du shopping au centre commercial ce week-end.
We’re going shopping at the mall this weekend.
faire du skateboard dans la rue : to skate(board) in the street
Les ados font du skateboard dans la rue.
The teens are skateboarding in the street.
faire du vélo dans la ville : to bicycle in the city
Faire du vélo dans la ville est économique et écologique à la fois.
Bicycling in the city is economical and green at the same time.
jouer au football dans le parc : to play soccer in the park
Les amis jouent au football dans le parc.
The friends are playing soccer in the park.
manger dans un restaurant : to eat in a restaurant
Nous mangeons dans un restaurant au moins une fois par semaine.
We eat in a restaurant at least once a week.
monter à cheval dans la campagne : to ride a horse in the countryside
La fille monte à cheval dans la campagne.
The girl rides a horse in the countryside.
nager dans la mer : to swim in the sea
Vous nagez dans la mer en été.
You all swim in the sea in the summer.
parler avec des amis : to talk with friends
Je parle avec mes amis après les cours.
I talk with my friends after class.
patiner à glace : to ice skate
Ils patinent à glace en hiver.
They (masc., mixed) ice skate in winter.
pêcher dans la rivière : to fish in the river
Mon grand-père et moi, nous pêchons dans la rivière au printemps.
My grandfather and I fish in the river in the spring.
prendre le soleil à la plage : to sunbathe at the beach
Nous prenons le soleil à la plage.
We sunbathe at the beach.
prendre un pôt au bar : to have a drink at the bar
Les employés de bureau prennent un pôt au bar après le travail.
The office workers have a drink at the bar after work.
regarder un film : to watch a movie
Elle reste chez elle ce soir et regarde un film.
She is staying home this evening and watching a movie.
rendre visite à la famille : to visit family
Nous rendons visite à notre famille en Californie cet été.
We are visiting our family in California this summer.
skier dans les montagnes : to ski in the mountains
La famille skie dans les montagnes en décembre.
The family skis in the mountains in December.
visiter un musée : to visit a museum
Tu visites un musée au centre-ville aujourd’hui.
You (informal) are visiting a museum downtown today.
