Here are examples of things to do at home. Think of these as a template to working with different verbs and nouns in the French language. Conjugate the verbs to say who is doing the activity and the nouns involved!
arroser les plantes : to water the plants
J’arrose les plantes tous les samedis.
I water the plants every Saturday.
bavarder avec des amis : to chat with friends
Elle bavarde avec des amis au téléphone.
She chats with friends on the phone.
chanter dans la douche : to sing in the shower
Il chante dans la douche – mal.
He sings in the shower – badly.
s’endormir sur le divan : to fall asleep on the couch
Tu t’endors sur le divan devant la télé.
You (informal) fall asleep on the couch in front of the TV.
écouter la radio : to listen to the radio
Nous écoutons la radio en nous habillant.
We listen to the radio while getting dressed.
écrire une lettre : to write a letter
Vous écrivez une lettre à vos grand-parents.
You (formal) are writing a letter to your grandparents.
étudier mes notes : to study my notes
Il étudie ses notes pour l’examen demain.
He studies his notes for the exam tomorrow.
faire des biscuits : to bake cookies
Je fais souvent des biscuits avec ma fille.
I often bake cookies with my daughter.
faire une sieste : to take a nap
Chut! Le bébé fait une sieste!
Shh! The baby is taking a nap!
jouer d’un instrument : to play an instrument
Elle joue du piano et ses frères jouent du violon.
She plays the piano and her brothers play the violin.
jouer aux jeux vidéos : to play video games
Tu joues aux jeux vidéos de temps en temps.
You (informal) play video games from time to time.
lire un livre : to read a book
Je lis un bon livre en ce moment.
I’m reading a good book now.
manger le dîner : to eat dinner
Ma famille et moi, nous mangeons le dîner ensemble.
My family and I eat dinner together.
méditer après le yoga : to meditate after yoga
Ils méditent pour une demi-heure après le yoga.
They (masc., mixed) meditate for a half-hour after yoga.
nettoyer la maison : to clean the house
Nous nettoyons la maison, mais ce n’est pas amusant.
We clean the house, but it’s not fun.
parler avec la famille : to talk with family
Je parle avec la famille à la table.
I speak with my family at the table.
planifier pour demain : to plan for tomorrow
Vous planifiez quelque chose d’intéressante pour demain.
You all are planning something interesting for tomorrow.
prendre un bain / se baigner dans la baignoire : to take a bath in the tub
Je prends un bain dans la baignoire parce que c’est relaxant.
I take a bath in the bathtub because it’s relaxing.
préparer un repas : to prepare a meal
Elle prépare tous les repas pour sa famille.
She prepares all the meals for her family.
ranger mes livres : to organize my books
Tu ranges tes livres sur l’étagère.
You (informal) are arranging your books on the bookshelf.
réfléchir aux choses : to think about things
Quelquefois j’arrête et je réfléchis aux choses.
Sometimes I stop and I think about things.
regarder la télévision : to watch television
Nous regardons la télévision dans la salle de séjour.
We watch television in the living room.
surfer l’internet : to surf the internet
Vous surfez l’internet au lieu de faire vos devoirs.
You all are surfing the internet instead of doing your homework.
travailler sur l’ordinateur : to work on the computer
Après le dîner, mon père travaille sur l’ordinateur.
After dinner, my father works on the computer.
