Zoo Ave is a rehabilitation hot spot for all types of species native to Costa Rica. All entrance fees go to funding the rehabilitation and release of injured animals, as well as breeding and conservation programs! Sitting on nearly three acres of land, the zoo is home to rescued and recovering animals kept in clean and natural conditions, though the open environment invites wildlife from the surrounding reserve into the park as well. Enjoy the day strolling among free roaming peacocks and lizards while listening to the harmonious mix of exotic birds, cats, and monkeys echoing through the forest. Zoo Ave is the perfect introduction to Costa Rican biodiversity! Follow the links below to learn more about Zoo Ave!
Fábrica Señor y Señora Ese is a wood processing plant that offers tours of the factory, an on-site gift shop, and even a typical Costa Rican restaurant! Being a global leader in ecological conservation, it comes as no surprise that the factory’s wood comes from mindfully managed forest land. Take an intimate look at how the wood is processed into beautiful jewelry, breathtaking statues, and all sorts of instruments and trinkets through a guided tour of the factory. Afterward be sure to stop in the gift shop and the restaurant to support local ecotourism with your enthusiastic patronage! Follow the links below to learn more about La Fábrica Señor y Señora Ese!

The Doka Estate coffee plantation is a third generation business and is proudly the only wet mill in Costa Rica. With over 1500 coffee pickers alone, Doka Estate provides a way of life not only to Costa Ricans, but to neighboring countries as well. Tours of the plantation describe the entire process of growing coffee, from the planting techniques and harvesting procedures, to the system of separating, drying, and shipping the final product. Taste and purchase the different types of coffee only available at the Doka Estate! Follow the links below to learn more about The Doka Estate!
Tour Sarchí and immerse yourself in the rich culture born of a lifestyle born on the skids of ox carts. Sarchí is now known even more for its intricately hand painted carretas than the lifestyle that brought about the tradition. Coffee beans fuel the lifeblood of the city, and while the carts have long been put to rest, the vibrant spirit lives on.
While traveling in the city, be sure to notice the traditional style of painting on everything, including but not limited to benches, walls, sidewalks, and even guard rails! Follow the links below to learn more about Sarchí!
